A FATHER TO HIS SON

In honorem ac piam memoriam filii sui carissimi haec scripsit.

Geoffrey Feiling    Charlie

Thy name, dear son, is richly blazened in

The lasting annals of an ancient line,

Thy fame is as the noblest of thy kin,

Because thou knowest all men's hearts to win

Thou treadest now the Lawns of Asphodel,

With all the good and great, thy peers who spell

Out, loud and clear for all to hear,

Those brave, bright, noble deeds of thine,

That we in dear remembrance keep,

Until the Gods their harvest reap.
